We often hear that parents’ love is priceless and selfless. But accepting that love can come at a cost: a price of being controlled, a price of living under expectations. When this love intertwines with children’s rebellion, it creates a complicated and painful dynamic. In this black-and-white animation, director Chen Baosi uses playdough as a metaphor to visualize the pressure of parental love. The film not only portrays the oppressiveness from children’s perspective, but also discusses the vicious cycle passed down through generations.
